As we head into the extended bank holiday weekend, we’d like to provide you with a further update on the clean-up operation following the fire to the princess yacht on Saturday 28 May 2022.

Princess Pier

Princess Pier remains closed to the public.

We will look to re-open the pier once the salvage operation has been safely completed and remedial works have been carried out.

Planning is underway for the major repair works to be completed.

Access to beaches and water quality

Local beaches are open.

We continue to monitor the shoreline and water quality for any changes.  If there are any changes these will be communicated to the public. Please do take note of any instructions that may be issued by Tor Bay Harbour Authority.

Salvage operation

All major debris and a significant amount of fuel has been removed from the vessel.

The booms that surround the vessel will remain in place until the salvage operation is completed.

We are working with insurers to put in place a salvage action plan as quickly as possible.

At this time we do not have a confirmed date for the salvage of the vessel.

Jubilee weekend

We’d like to remind you that the English Riviera Airshow and all other Jubilee events will be going ahead as planned this weekend. Princess Pier will be closed, but there are many other vantage points around Torquay that the airshow can be enjoyed from.
