Torbay Council’s Public Health Team is supporting the newly published ‘Eatwell Guide’ from Public Health England.

The guide intends to clearly display a healthy diet in the format of a pie chart with suggestions and explanations of what foods fit into each group and the portion sizes which are advisable.

The Eatwell Guide has replaced the eatwell plate and continues to define the government’s advice on a healthy balanced diet.

The changes from the old eatwell plate include: inclusion of hydration guidance; foods have been regrouped and includes information on nutritional labels.

Deputy Mayor and Executive Lead for Wellbeing, Councillor Derek Mills, said: “Making healthier choices can greatly improve health and wellbeing, this new guide helps to explain the ways to ensure a varied and nutritional diet.”
