Reason for inclusion in Forward Plan: Supports future jobs growth and regeneration of the area by improving traffic flow to the town centre in one direction and giving good access to the prestigious Edginswell Gateway site in the other. This will help to support additional jobs and make better use of the commercial premises in the centre, plus stimulate growth in the local economy by improving accessibility to the area and to markets, helping to diversify the economy beyond the traditional tourist areas.

Key Risks: Failure to implement this proposal will impact upon the economic growth of the Gateway and Town Centre. Access to potential development and regeneration sites could be restricted and the lack of direct access could deter future business investment having significant and lasting impacts on the area.
