Allocations Policy and Local Tenancy Strategy

The Localism Act 2011 and the statutory guidance on allocation of accommodation issued on 26th June 2012 requires a review of our existing allocations policy be undertaken and the publication of a Local Tenancy Strategy (which is a new requirement).

Reason for inclusion in Forward Plan: The approach will meet housing need and demand locally. Contribute to the wider community objectives, such as health, education, employment and enterprise. Reflect social, economic and household requirements which may arise out of the welfare reform.

Key Risks: Limited availability of appropriate accommodation will still lead to waiting times for suitable housing, and it’s important not to raise expectations that are unrealistic.
