Furzeham Green Toilet Block
The Council put the building out to tender in 2022 and a preferred bidder was selected for the grant of a new lease, which was intended to involve carrying out works to improve the building and change its use. However, the preferred bidder did not progress their proposals or engage further with the Council, and the building has remained vacant since that time.
During this period the condition of the building has continued to deteriorate, and it has become increasingly costly and problematic for the Council to hold vacant, including incidents of unauthorised access and vandalism.
The people of Brixham would like the opportunity to see the
building repaired and brought back into use for the benefit of the
community. We therefore request that demolition is put on hold
while the Council engages with local residents and stakeholders to
explore whether a viable long term future use for the building can
be agreed.
