To appoint a Chairman/woman of the Committee for the 2015//2016 Municipal Year.

Councillor Tyerman was elected as Chairman of the Employment Committee for the 2015/2016 Municipal Year.

For reference:  Having declared their non pecuniaryinterest members may remain in the meeting and speak and, vote on the matter in question.  A completed disclosure of interests form should be returned to the Clerk before the conclusion of the meeting.

Councillor Tyerman declared a non pecuniary interest as he is named as one of the proposed Council Representatives on the Torbay Economic Development Company.

To make appointments to the following companies:

(a)          Torbay Economic Development Company;

(b)          Torbay Town Centre Company.

(c)          English Riviera Tourism Company;

(d)          Riviera International Conference Centre Board of Directors;

(e)          Tor2 Board; and

(f)           PLUSS Board of Directors.     

The Committee considered the submitted revised report on appointments to a number of companies established by the Council.

Resolved:

That the appointments to companies be as set out in the submitted revised report:

(i)           That the appointments to companies for 2015 to May 2019 be as set out below:

(a)          Torbay Economic Development Company – Councillors Councillors Carter, Mills and Tyerman;

(b)          Torbay Town Centres Company – Councillor Haddock;

(c)           English Riviera Tourism Company – Councillors Amil and Stringer ;

(d)          Riviera International Conference Centre Board of Directors – Councillor Kingscote ;

(e)          Tor2 Board – Councillor Bent; and

(f)            PLUSS Board of Directors – Councillor King.

(ii)          That the Executive Director of Operations and Finance explore the possibility of an additional Director being appointed to PLUSS.

In the event that this is possible, Political Balance will not apply to such further appointment and the Executive Director of Operations and Finance be delegated authority to make such further appointment in consultation with the Mayor and Group Leaders.
