Purpose:

To approve the Council's savings proposals for 2015. These savings proposals build upon the decisions made by Council in February 2014 relating to the 2015/16 budget and will be the basis of the budget which COuncil will ultimately approve in February 2015.

Decision:

That the recommendations to Council on the savings proposals for 2015/16 which were published on 11 September 2014 be withdrawn.

Reasons for the decision:

To allow sufficient time to consider the complex issues associated with the Mayor’s savings proposals including the uncertainty with the 2015/16 funding from the Government and the in-year pressures currently facing the Council.

Implementation:

This decision will come into force and will be implemented on Monday 22 September 2014. The Mayor’s savings proposals will be considered at a future Council meeting.

Information:

On 11 September 2014 the Mayor published savings proposals for 2015/2016 which formed the basis of the budget for Council approval in February 2015. Following the publication of the savings proposals, the Mayor has given further consideration to his recommendations. In light of the uncertainty with the 2015/16 funding from Government, the pressures within Social Care and the in-year pressures facing the Council, together with the lack of detailed information on some areas, the Mayor has withdrawn his recommendations to Council to allow sufficient time for these issues to be considered before his savings proposals are presented to Council.
