Applying for Salix Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Funding
Decision Maker: Chief Executive
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
That a bid for funding of £96,200 be submitted to the Salix Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund.
Reasons for the decision:
To enable the council to develop a heat decarbonisation plan.
Alternative options considered:
The only other option was to not apply and fund this work through existing/future climate related council budgets. However, at this stage this route was the preferred option so existing climate related funding can help deliver a wider range of carbon savings across the council / wider Torbay.
Implementation:
This decision will be implemented immediately.
Information:
The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy has made available up to £15 million of funding for Phase 2 Low Carbon Skills Fund, that will provide grants for public sector organisations to engage the specialist and expert advice and skills required to put in place or improve an existing heat decarbonisation plan. If successful the funding will enable the Council to use existing climate related resources to deliver a wider range of carbon savings across the council / wider Torbay.
Interests and Nature of Interests Declared:
None.
