Decision:
That the 4th Floor (North and South), Tor Hill House, Tor Hill Road, Torquay, be leased, to the tenant and in agreement with the terms of lease as set out in the exempt appendix to this Record of Decision which was available to Members upon request.
Reasons for the decision:
This lease will secure 52 new jobs in Torbay, make the best use of Council assets through the provision of an income and ensure the availability of an important service to the Bay’s residents is provided by an organisation based within Torbay.
Alternative options considered:
An alternative organisation had expressed an interest in leasing 4th Floor (North wing only), Tor Hill House, however they were not agreeable to the same terms of lease as the preferred tenant.
Implementation:
This decision will be implemented immediately.
Information:
The Council has been approached by an organisation who has recently secured a contract with the Department of Work and Pensions, the organisation needs office space as soon as possible in order to commence the training of staff in June 2021. As a result the organisation will create 52 new jobs in Torbay and enables the Council to repurpose a space that was surplus to requirements.
