Decision:
That Torbay Council renews its lease of 8.32 acres of land at Churston Court Farm, Church Road, Churston Ferrers, Brixham known as “The Grove” (as edged red in Appendix 1) for a period of 10 years.
Reasons for the decision:
To continue to provide secure green space for recreation purposes.
Alternative options considered:
An alternative would be to not renew the lease however this would result in the Council’s access to this land being withheld.
Implementation:
Immediately.
Information:
The Council has leased this land from the Trustees of the Churston Barony Settlement Trust, with the current 2019 lease expiring earlier in 2024. A lease renewal has been agreed for 10 years with a starting annual rent of £5,000 per annum, with RPI rent reviews occurring every third year of the term.
