What elections are taking place?
On Thursday 5 May 2016, the following elections and referendum will take place:
- Police and Crime Commissioner Elections
- Referendum on how Torbay Council is run
- Local Council Election for the Tormohun ward of Torbay Council
Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Elections
This will be the second PCC Election to take place, the first was held in November 2012. Electors in Torbay will be voting for the Police and Crime Commissioner for the Devon and Cornwall Police Authority Area.

Referendum on how Torbay Council is run
Torbay Council is giving the electors of Torbay the opportunity to have a say on how they would like the council to be run in the future. Residents are being invited to take part in a referendum.
This local referendum relates only to how Torbay Council is run and is not connected to the national EU Referendum to be held on 23 June 2016.
By-election in the Tormohun ward of Torbay Council
Following the resignation of Councillor Andy Lang, an election will be held in the Tormohun ward on Thursday 5 May 2016. Electors living in the Tormohun ward will have the opportunity to elect a new councillor to represent them on Torbay Council.

Elections schedule
Thursday 5 May
- 7am to 10pm: Polling stations open for voting in the Police and Crime Commissioner election, the local referendum on how Torbay Council is run and the Tormohun ward by-election
- From 10pm: Verification of all the ballot papers received at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Chestnut Avenue, Torquay.
Friday 6 May
- 11am - Counting votes for the Police and Crime Commissioner election at Westpoint Arena, Exeter.

Sunday 8 May
- From 11am: Counting votes for the local referendum on how Torbay Council is run and the Tormohun ward by-election followed by the declaration of results at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Chestnut Avenue, Torquay.
