The purpose of the Torbay Economic Development Company Ltd is to deliver the economic regeneration ambitions of Torbay Council through a more collaborative working relationship with the business community.

It is not a statutory body but is required to manage the Economic Development Company (EDC) and to provide direction to the Chief Executive Officer of the Company and its management team.

It acts to set the EDC business plan, make decisions within its memorandum and articles of association with reference to the Council as the member of the company when the reserved matters clauses are triggered.
