The English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC) is a solely owned company of Torbay Council which is a registered company with Memorandum and Articles registered at Company's House.  It has a board of 12 directors (3 seats are held by the Council).

The purpose of the ERTC is to manage and operate on behalf of Torbay Council the tourism marketing and visitor service functions to achieve the strategic objectives identified in the Turning the Tide Tourism Strategy (2009):

-                      to reposition the English Riviera as a leading and inspirational UK destination;

-                      to arrest the decline in visitor number and spend; and

-                      to increase the value of tourism to the Torbay economy.
