South West Energy and Environment Group

Description

The South West Energy and Environment Group (SWEEG) Steering Group is a partnership between the Council, other local authorities and the University of Exeter which performs applied research to:

- investigate the environmental impact and the use of natural resources and other agents in the built environment, transport, waste disposal, land use and generally;

- seek means to ensure such impact is minimized, to advise the parties of the financial and other benefits of new developments in the environmental and energy fields;

- contribute to public awareness of the environmental impact of resource use and of the potential to reduce its adverse effects; and

- consider such other matters which may arise from time to time and be identified by SWEEG as of concern or relevance to the objectives of SWEEG.

SWEEG was established in 1977 and is not a statutory body.
