Consultation will take place with the
multi-stakeholder Task Group set up by the Council to progress the
proposed Torbay Retail & Tourism Business Improvement District
(TRTBID). The English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC) will also be
consulted along with a number of representative
Councillors.
Reason for inclusion in Forward Plan: The decision will provide clarity to the retail and tourism business sectors ahead of a vote in respect of the proposed Torbay Retail & Tourism Business Improvement District (TRTBID). A clear policy will be established regarding the future use of the Council's tourism brand and associated assets. Employees of the English Riviera Tourism Company (ERTC) will better understand the Council's intentions regarding the future of that commissioned service.
Key Risks: The vote for the proposed Torbay Retail & Tourism Business Improvement District (TRTBID) will commence in mid-October and will be informed by an associated Business Plan. This key decision is required to ensure that a meaningful Business Plan can be circulated ahead of the vote.
