Purpose:

Torbay's existing Economic Strategy covers the period 2013-2018 and the Tourism Strategy covers the period 2010-2015.  The Economic Strategy is one of the Council’s key Policy Framework documents, with the Tourism Strategy being a sub document of this Strategy.

 

The period covered by the Tourism Strategy has now expired and the Strategy has been reviewed and updated in light of changes to local government funding and national tourism policy.  The Tourism Strategy needs to feed into the revised Economic Strategy and it is therefore proposed that two Strategies will be reviewed together to ensure they complement each other.

Decision:

To publish for consultation the draft Torbay Economic Strategy 2017-2022.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable a five week consultation period on the draft strategy to be carried out in accordance with paragraph F4.1 of the Standing Orders – Budget and Policy Framework.

None

Implementation:

This decision will come into force on 2 June 2017, so as to commence the formal five week consultation process on this Policy Framework Document.

Information:

The Torbay Economic Strategy is part of Torbay Council’s Policy Framework and provides details of the economic context for Torbay.  The strengths of the local economy and the opportunities to create employment, attract investment and develop a more resilient local economy.
