Purpose:

During the winter 2015, the Local Government Association will be undertaking a peer challenge review of the Council with a focus on financial planning and viability.  The peer challenge will assist the Council in identifying areas where it can improve or make changes to meet the challenges it faces.  The findings of the review and recommendations will be presented to the Council in early 2016.

Decision:

That, following the decision of the Council on 3 February 2016, the final detailed action plan in response to the Local Government Association’s Corporate Peer Challenge feedback report, be presented to Council meeting on 7 April 2016.

Reasons for the decision:

To enable more time for the development of the action plan including engagement with partners.

This decision will come into force immediately.

Information:

At the Council meeting on 3 February 2016, the Council received the LGA’s Corporate Peer Challenge feedback report and resulting outline action plan which responded to the recommendations of the LGA’s report.

 

The Council resolved to establish a member and officer working group to refine the details of the action plan during February 2016 and hold a member/officer workshop to enable all members and relevant officers to contribute towards the development of the action plan. 

 

The member/officer workshop has been held and arising from the workshop it was suggested that further time be given to develop the action plan and to enable partners to be involved.
