Borough of Torbay (Various Streets, Torquay) (Control of Waiting, Loading and Unloading) Amendment Order No1 2024
Decision Maker: Director of Pride in Place
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To implement the parking restrictions contained within the above Order.
Reasons for the decision:
The proposals in this Order are to assist with road safety and traffic flow at several junction points across Torquay.
The proposals were advertised in a Public Notice in the Herald Express on 4th September 2024, a consultation period of 21 days was provided for members of the public to submit any objections to the proposals, notices were also placed out on site.
Two objections were received in response to proposals for Powderham Road and Pennys Hill, which were reviewed by the Cabinet Member for Pride in Place, Transport and Parking at the Transportation Issues Cabinet Member Briefing Meeting on 12th December 2024. The one objection received for Powderham Road felt that the restrictions could be cut back slightly on one side of the road to allow for an additional 1-2 spaces, it was agreed that the order could be modified to allow for this slight change to the length of restriction. One objection was received for Pennys Hill, however it was agreed that the advertised restrictions were the minimum requirement for a safe and compliant highway and should be implemented as advertised.
No objections were received regarding any of the other proposals.
Alternative options considered:
The alternative was not to proceed with the changes to the parking restrictions.
Implementation:
Highways will instruct implementation of the required markings and signage.
