That the Annual Public Health Report 2023 be noted.
Reasons for the decision:
The National Health Service Act 2006 (section 73B) requires the Director of Public Health to prepare an annual report on the health of the people in the area of the local authority.
Alternative options considered:
There were no alternative options considered.
Implementation:
This decision will come into force and may be implemented on 22 January 2024 unless the call-in procedure is triggered (as set out in the Standing Orders in relation to Overview and Scrutiny).
Information:
The Annual Public Health Report 2023 focuses on an aspect of the health of the population - cardiovascular disease. The Annual Report discusses the risk factors for cardiovascular disease and looks at what we are doing to promote prevention, early detection, and to optimise treatment and support.
At the meeting Councillor Tranter proposed and Councillor David Thomas seconded a motion that was agreed unanimously by the Cabinet, as set out above.
