That Councillors Chris Lewis and Tyerman be appointed as Councillor Directors on the Torbay Economic Development Company Board in place of Councillors Maddison and Brook respectively.

To formalise the appointment of two new Directors to the Torbay Economic Development Company Board.

This decision will come into force immediately.

The Council approved changes to the Political Balance of the Council on 7 December 2023 following the resignation of Councillors Maddison and Joyce from the Conservative Group and becoming members of Prosper Torbay.  Councillor Maddison was a Councillor Director on the Torbay Economic Development Company Board on behalf of the Cabinet Member responsible for Economic Development and the Leader of the Conservative Group has requested that Councillor Maddison be replaced by the Cabinet Member for Place Development and Economic Growth, Councillor Chris Lewis as she is no longer a member of the Conservative Group.  Councillor Brook resigned as a Councillor Director on the Torbay Economic Development Company Board on 19 December 2023 and the Council needs to appoint a new Councillor to replace him. 

The Chief Executive of Torbay Council has delegated authority in accordance with paragraph 1.6 of the Officer Scheme of Delegation to determine the appointment of non-Executive Directors on Boards of the Council’s wholly owned companies on behalf of the Council, in consultation with the Group Leaders.

The Group Leaders were consulted on the appointment of Councillors Chris Lewis and Tyerman on 12 January 2024.
