What is it?

The Community Grants Fund is an initiative where we are funding small community-led schemes to improve people’s health and wellbeing. The Grants are provided to those who submit an application that demonstrates how the funding will be used (e.g. to purchase the necessary equipment or to promote their project) to enable local communities to get more active, look after themselves better, or become more connected. Priority will be given to those projects from the areas of the Bay with the greatest need. Applications may be from £25 - £300.
Projects are not expected to be supported where the funding is used to support individual people (it should support groups), for paying salaries, equipment that is not to be used directly to support peoples wellbeing (e.g. laptops or tills), where the project requires such amounts so that the funding awarded through this scheme is insignificant to the overall total or is not able to clearly demonstrate how local communities will benefit.

Who can apply?

Any person, group or project based in Torbay.

Process

The funding from us is given to Torbay Community Development Trust who administer at least 3 panels’ across Torbay, each panel will review the applications and determine if the project meets the aspirations above. The Panel is chaired by a chair from Healthwatch Torbay, with representatives with lived experience from local communities making up the rest of the independent panel.

Any application which does not meet the criteria will be offered support and advice to amend their application and resubmit if applicable.
