To make our 5 ways campaign feel local we need your help! We want to know what keeps you well and what makes you smile - all captured in a photograph. There are lots of prizes on offer and you could be one of the faces of our campaign!

Sometimes we don’t feel great or able to cope when things get difficult but the good news is there are 5 simple steps which you can take to improve things when you are not feeling your best.

Research by the New Economics Foundation (2008) shows there are 5 things which can significantly improve your mental wellbeing. These include connecting to people, learning new skills, being active, taking notice of your surroundings and giving something back to your community. They are known as Connect, Keep Learning, Be Active, Take Notice and Give.

Many of us are already doing the 5 Ways to Wellbeing and we really want to see what keeps you well in Torbay and South Devon. You can do this by sharing your wellbeing image by using the hashtag #MyWayToWellbeing

How to enter the competition?

If you would like a chance to enter our competition, simply take a photo of whatever keeps you well related to Connecting, Learning, Being Active, Taking Notice and Giving – all in Torbay and South Devon. Email your photo to

Your photo could also become part of our Torbay and South Devon 5 Ways to Wellbeing campaign*. If you are under 16 years, please get a parent or guardian to send in your photo for you.

Prizes include free vouchers for local tourist attractions and activities which support the 5 Ways to Wellbeing. They have been donated by the following organisations:

The photo competition launches on Wednesday 1 May and will run for 3 weeks. Final competition entries must be received before Wednesday 22 May. Prizes for the best photos will be awarded by a judging panel and winners will be notified by Wednesday 19 June.

Winners may be contacted for a professional re-take of their photo if selected to form part of the campaigns marketing materials. Please read full competition terms and conditions.

5 Ways to Wellbeing Campaign

Some of the largest organisations across Torbay and Devon have come together to promote the 5 Ways to Wellbeing through a new campaign. Launching in July 2019, the main aim is to increase awareness of these 5 simple steps.

The 5 ways are unique to each and every one of us and we want to encourage you to do a little more of what makes you feel good so that you are able to keep doing the things that are really important to you!
