Testing for people with NO COVID-19 symptoms

How testing for asymptomatic people works in Torbay.

One in three people with COVID-19 has no symptoms and regular testing helps to identify them so they can isolate and prevent spread of the virus.

Regular lateral flow (LFD) testing is now available for everyone in the community: that's anybody who lives or works in Torbay.

How asymptomatic testing works

  • LFD tests are taken twice a week
  • The result is uploaded to Test and Trace
  • You must take certain actions once you get your test results

Where you can get a test in Torbay

The mobile testing service for those with no symptoms has been withdrawn; however, you can still access testing by:

If you have symptoms, have tested positive with an LFD test, are a close contact of a positive case or have been advised to get a PCR test by a healthcare professional you must book a PCR test instead.

You cannot use NHS provided tests for the purpose of travelling to or from abroad.

Regular LFD tests are for people without symptoms. Anyone with symptoms should book a PCR test as normal: follow the usual guidance and book a test.
