Information on eligibility and how to apply for a Restart grant
Restart grants will be a two-part application process.
Part 1
Part 2
You will need to know:
Please ensure you have these ready before starting.
The deadline for businesses to submit applications is 30 June 2021 with all final payments required to be made by 31 July 2021.
We have tried to make the grant process as easy as possible for businesses but since March 2020 we have been running 11 different grant schemes. Each of these has very different eligibility requirements, payment amounts, and information required about the business.
Where possible we have avoided re-applications but with the restart scheme, the Government has asked us to collect some information that has not been collected on previous applications.
The re-application also helps prevent fraudulent claims as businesses could have changed significantly since November 2020 and this re-application ensures no grants are paid to the wrong person
This makes sure you get the maximum amount of financial support available.
The Government has excluded several types of businesses under each category and the data we hold on the nature of your business is not sufficient to allow us to effectively establish which category of business is operated from the premises.
Therefore, we are asking you to complete a pre-application to confirm the nature of your business to help streamline the process and gather the necessary information to award grants.
The eligibility has been set by Central Government and councils do not have the discretion to award these grants to any business type that isn’t eligible.
There will be further discretionary support available for businesses that miss out on these ‘Restart grants’.
We have staff working evenings and weekends to ensure these grants are paid as quickly as possible.
If your business is in severe financial hardship and we have not contacted you within 10 days of your application email financial.services@torbay.gov.uk please make sure you include your business rates account number and provide documented evidence of the financial hardship. If you are unable to evidence the financial hardship, we are unable to prioritise your application.
