Come and enjoy a gentle and relaxing introduction to this ancient Chinese exercise that benefits the mind, body and spirit. Taking place in the beautiful oasis of calm that is the Gardens at Torre Abbey and in amongst the romantic ruins, these classes will offer a low impact form of exercise that is accessible to all ages and levels of fitness.

Tai Chi is based on slow, gentle movements and rhythmic breathing that has proven to be an excellent tool for improving health and fitness and benefits core strength, posture, relaxation, circulation and balance. Important components include: exercise, breathing techniques, awareness of the body, focused attention/mindfulness, balance and function, visualisation and relaxation.

Learning to move your body correctly will ensure good health long into old age, and is one of the best forms of exercise to improve mental and physical wellbeing. Taking part in this activity in the Gardens at Torre Abbey will enable participants to connect with nature and perform the exercises in a quiet, peaceful and protected environment.

These sessions are based on the Tai Chi 4 Health classes currently delivered by Rita from Natural Tai Chi Devon. This is a 12 week course starting on Tuesday 9 July.

This event will be held in the gardens with a wet weather alternative in place.

This event is part of the Connecting Actively to Nature Programme that is running across the whole of Devon.
