Love reading? Love walking in the fresh air? Why not combine the two at our brand new Paperback Ramblers Club. Perfect for exercising both the body and the mind, each week we will meet at Torre Abbey Museum and go for a stroll and a literary chat. Led by Squircle Arts, with visiting guest authors joining some of the walks, the walks will take in the local literary landscape from the museum gardens to Torre Abbey Meadows’ or perhaps Torre Abbey Sands and on up to Corbyn Head.

The gentle walks will also be very sociable - there’s something more relaxed about walking and talking when surrounded by beautiful scenery, rather than sat in an uninspiring room. And there is such a rich literary legacy to explore, with the likes of Charles Kingsley, Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Charles Dickins, Charles Darwin, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Rudyard Kipling and Agatha Christie all put pen to paper whilst staying in the Bay. And there are some wonderful author’s still living in the area today.

Although aimed at the over 55’s and supported by CAN, anyone with a love of literature and getting outdoors and meeting new people is welcome to join us.

This event will be held in the gardens with a wet weather alternative in place.

This event is part of the Connecting Actively to Nature Programme that is running across the whole of Devon.
