The proposed station and access to it will be from Newton Road and Riviera Way situated between Scott’s and Brown’s Bridge. The station will increase the opportunities for travel and provide connections for residents, commuters, and students. In addition to the benefit for residents wishing to travel by rail, it will help to reduce journeys by car to nearby employers, especially Torbay Hospital, Edginswell Business Park and Nicholson Road Business Park and for students attending the nearby school.
A station in this area has been included within local transport plan for several years and more recently it has been included within the new Local Plan and Masterplan. Work is ongoing with Network Rail to undertake the necessary approvals in the development of the station project.
The planning application can be viewed at Planning Online using the reference P/2016/0078.
Business case documents can be viewed on the Heart of the South West - Local Transport Board website. Please note that this business case has since been refreshed for a bid to the New Stations Fund and would be reconsidered again for any future funding opportunities.18823
