The Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is a valuable part of the pay and reward package for employees working in local government. Key features of the scheme can be found on the LGPS website.
As a full-time employee, you’ll be entitled to a minimum of 25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays. This rises by one additional day’s leave each year, on the anniversary of your employment, to a total of 30 days as a full-time employee. One further additional days leave is given after 10 years service.
Comprehensive and generous relocation and support package
Once you have accepted a position with us, you may be eligible for a key skills relocation package, based on you currently living more than a 75 mile radius from your main place of work in Torbay and relocating within a 25 mile radius of your normal place of work. We understand that everyone has different circumstances and our aim is to be as flexible as we can to support your move to Torbay. If you are eligible, we will offer you:
- A tailored relocation package of up to £8,000, where moving from one rental property to another, and up to a maximum of £15,000 if selling and buying a property

Subsidised car parking
Staff car parking permits are issued to Torbay council staff members and are for use in Torbay council pay and display car parks. Car parks around council offices are plentiful and council staff are able to park each day for a daily fee of either 50 pence (up to 6 hours) or £1. Staff members are also able to use their permit, and subsidised rate, at weekends in council car parks throughout Torbay.
Essential car users
An enhanced mileage allowance is paid to those employees who are able to demonstrate that they meet the criteria of the essential car user policy. Those staff who meet the requirements are also given access to park in the nearest car park to the council offices.
