Role: Apprentice Human Resources Officer
Service: Human Resources
16 months ago I decided that I wanted to make a big change in my working life with a view to pursuing a new career path and challenge myself academically.
Shortly after I discovered that Torbay Council were looking to recruit new apprentices with a willingness to learn new skills to support the business need along with the chance to gain a new qualification to match.
I jumped at this exciting opportunity and threw myself into a new working life in the Human Resources Team.
I am now lucky enough to work with an extremely knowledgeable team who are passionate about delivering a quality service to their customers. I have been able to gain valuable information about working for Local Government along with what it takes to be part of a busy HR team. The team have been a great asset when undertaking my CIPD level 3 qualification as I have been able to source lots a varied information to support my studies.
I’m now reaching the end of my journey as an apprentice and I’m looking forward to the future with a whole range of new skills and a new qualification to put into practice.
I am not quite sure what the next step is going to be, but I do know that I have all the help and support from my colleagues to guide me to make correct choice.
