About the role….

Our Civil Enforcement Officers enforce road traffic orders by issuing Penalty Charge Notices, and are the eyes and ears of the local community, patrolling areas whilst wearing a body worn video, providing advice to residents, and members of the public. You will play a significant role in reducing traffic congestion within Torbay through the enforcement of parking restrictions.

What you’ll be doing….

Your day will be spent mostly outside, in all weathers, walking up to 10 miles per day, so please consider this before you apply. You will be dealing with members of the public face to face, so customer service must be something you enjoy, sometimes in difficult situations. Be friendly, polite, and willing to offer support, advice and assistance to colleagues and customers.

To have a good understanding and application of the types of interventions/models available for working with families, maintaining a flexible and creative approach when engagement is difficult.

We are recruiting for a responsible and experienced Income Collector on a seasonal basis to be based in Torquay. In this role you will be responsible for supporting the effective, efficient and economic operation of the car parking function for the Local Government. This is initially a seasonal role looking to last until around September 2019, however, if possible we would also like to retain the collector to be able to cover adhoc holidays and sick leave throughout the year

As a Cash Collector you will be responsible for the collection and transport of parking and other revenues to the secure counting facility in an efficient and secure manner, ensuring that a full audit trail is maintained and recorded.

Duties involved:

  • Coin collection from the off street and on street parking machines across the bay
  • Ensuring the safe and secure collection and transportation of income from car parks and other council locations
  • Providing an efficient courier service across the bay for the transportation of money and post 
  • To count and accurately record all collected income and prepare for collection and banking with external the organisations
  • To inspect car parks and car park machines to ensure they are working correctly
  • To report problems and areas of concern to the council to minimise any loss of income

The ideal candidate will preferably have experience in a similar background, however this is not essential.

You will need a full driving licence for this role as you will be driving a company vehicle (Transit Van). Successful candidates will be subject to a driving licence check.
