Who are we looking for?

A committed doer who wants to make a difference, you do this in a way that enables people to achieve their goals and regain control over their lives. Putting the aims of the person first, you communicate clearly and know your limits. You are creative and inventive and can identify opportunities outside of the ‘usual options’ where necessary or desirable.

You may be visiting people at home, undertaking activities in the community or meeting at the office; meaning that you have a lot of freedom. This is a big responsibility, so you are confident, adaptable and are able use your own initiative. You can work independently and feel comfortable as a lone worker; you are at your best when no day is the same.

Self-reflection, listening, asking questions, courage and empathy are the key skills we are looking for, so if you have these qualities and believe that learning and development is part of your life please contact us.

Torbay is a stunning coastal location in South Devon, close to Dartmoor National Park and in easy reach of Exeter City and the M5.  This is a beautiful location in which to live and work and the Council has serious ambitions to build on the regeneration and investment already happening in the Bay.

We are currently seeking a Service Support Technician to work in our fast paced, innovative, and supportive planning team.

Previous experience of Development Management is desirable but not essential.  We believe this is an exciting opportunity that would suit an individual who is used to working in a stimulating, customer focused environment, who has an eye for detail and accuracy, and is looking for a new challenge.

This post could provide a good introduction into a career in Development Management and in Torbay there is the opportunity to enjoy a good work-life balance in a scenic and beautiful part of the UK.

If you would like an informal discussion on the post please contact Mark Irving, Service Manager – Support and Development on 01803 207795
