That the Celebrating and Supporting Volunteering Steering Group be established with the following membership and terms of reference:

Membership:

·         Director of Adult and Community Services

·         Leader of the Council or their nominated representative

·         Deputy Leader of the Council or their nominated representative

·         Member champion for Volunteering

·         Voluntary sector lead employer

·         NHS representative

·         Torbay Council Human Resources representative

·         Torbay Council Place Directorate representative

·         Voluntary Sector representatives (number to be determined by the steering group)

Terms of Reference

To oversee the delivery of a joint program of work, designed to celebrate and support all aspects of volunteering in Torbay.

To establish the Celebrating and Supporting Volunteering Steering Group.

This decision will come into force immediately.

To establish the Celebrating and Supporting Volunteering Group to provide oversight of a program of work, designed to celebrate and support all aspects of volunteering in Torbay.  Using funds from Adult Social Care Precept, the project will:

•           Fund a volunteer coordinator held by the Voluntary Sector with a focus on all aspects of volunteering in Torbay;

•           Link in with the Council’s planned events;

•           Enhance the current system to look at supporting volunteers and employers;

•           Recognise and celebrate all volunteers in Torbay;

•           Offer training and other incentives, maximise use of existing Adult Education resources; and

•           Develop a framework for safe volunteering for all organisations (passporting system for making it as easy as possible to volunteer)
