Campaigns to improve consumer safety are launched locally and nationally. These range from the local No Cold Calling Homes to the national No Age, No Sale campaign aimed at reducing the inappropriate and illegal sale of age restricted products.
Window blind cord safety
Window blind cords and chains can pose a risk for babies and children who could injure or even strangle themselves on the hanging cords. Research undertaken by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents identified that, since 1999, at least 26 children within the UK have been strangled to death by window blind cords.
Many of the country's leading blind manufacturers and suppliers are eager to take action to improve the safety of corded blins and it is hoped that, eventually, the industry can enter a voluntary agreement to ensure that looped blind cords are removed from the market
