If your child was born between 1 September 2014 and 31 August 2015 you must apply for a school place between 1 November 2018 and 15 January 2019.

Information about primary places allocated in the first round of offers for September 2018 is now available.

You should use the time between now and November to read the TIPS 8 booklet, which contains details of the application process, and the primary supplement, which contains a summary of the admission criteria for each primary school.

Supplementary forms

Some schools have supplementary forms that will also need to be completed. You can download these forms below. They will also need to be submitted by 15 January 2019. School staff members can also download form SUPP1 if you are applying for a place at your school (this is only relevant for some schools - please see admission policy for the school).

Allocation

No places are allocated until after the closing date so you will be able to send in your preferences any time before that date. It is best to take some time to consider which school you think would be best for your child.
Summer born children.

Summer born children

Your child does not have to start school until the term following her/his fifth birthday. However, most children start in Reception in the September of the school year in which they are 5. You can apply for a school place, but delay your child’s start until later in the reception year without jeopardising the offer of a place. The deferred admission arrangements do not allow summer born children to defer admission to the Autumn Term in Year 1.

The government has issued Advice on the admission of summer born children Opens in a new window whose parents may be thinking of delaying the date when they start school. We have also produced some guidance about this.
