Experienced and young motorcycle riders in Torbay have been identified as a high risk road user group, meaning that according to road casualty data (Vision Zero Casualty Reduction Strategy 2020-2030) they are involved in more road accidents and incidents than other road user groups.

In 2021 local figures showed a 33% increase in collisions involving motorcyclists, with a 21% increase also being reported of motorcyclists being serious or slightly injured.

As a motorcycle rider you have a responsibility to stay alert to other road users and pedestrians. You can do this by:

  • Looking twice
  • Wearing the right protective clothing
  • Leaving enough space
  • Riding within your skills
  • Taking a motorcycle safety course
