Torbay Council’s Torre Abbey  Opens in a new window and Torbay Airshow  Opens in a new window event won two categories at the prestigious Herald Express English Riviera and South Devon Tourism & Hospitality Awards. Torbay’s first music festival, Grinagog Festival  Opens in a new window also received a nomination.

Torre Abbey Museum and Torbay Airshow were awarded gold for categories Visitor Attraction of the Year and Best Tourism Event or Festival of the Year respectively at a five-star awards ceremony, which took place at the Riviera International Conference Centre (RICC) on the evening of Thursday 2 November.

Cllr Nicole Amil, Executive Lead for Tourism, Culture and Harbours, said: “I am so delighted and proud that Torre Abbey and Torbay Airshow have received these wonderful awards and that the Grinagog Music Festival also received a nomination. The teams involved at Torre Abbey and those who make the Torbay Airshow and Grinagog happen, including partners, should be congratulated as they go over and above to provide great services and events for residents and visitors.” 

Phil Black, Culture and Events Service Manager, said: “We could not be happier or prouder to be recognised for all the hard work that goes into making Torre Abbey Museum and the Torbay Airshow a great success. These awards are held in high esteem and we were in categories with a number of great nominees. I would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate our Grinagog Team primarily made up of creatives from the local community, nominated in the Tourism or Festival category, for making Torbay’s music festival such a great success back in April.”
