Summer parking charges are being introduced in Torbay car parks on Tuesday 21 March. On street parking will come in to force on Wednesday 22 March 2017. The charges have been simplified and the classifications of beach, leisure and town centre car parks have been replaced with either long or short stay.

The cost of an annual permit has been reduced to £365 from the previous cost of £510. This is a large reduction in price that will save residents that use annual permits money and hopefully encourage other residents to purchase one.

The best offer for most residents would be to pay £50 for a year for an off peak permit (3pm to 10am the next morning) for all Council car parks, other than pay on exit. This results in costs being less than £1 a week.

Executive Lead for Community Services, Councillor Robert Excell, said: “Parking charges have been slightly raised from the winter charges but they are still affordable. I am pleased with the reduction in the annual permit rate and the ongoing off peak permit deal as I feel it is a good way to help residents that regularly pay for parking save themselves money.”
