Torbay Council is offering a number of different exciting apprentice opportunities in a range of disciplines across the local authority, closing deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday 25 June 2015.

Torbay’s Elected Mayor, Gordon Oliver, said: “Launched in 2014, we are working in partnership with South Devon College to help more people develop their skills through apprenticeships and become a part of our future local workforce. The programme aims to increase the number of apprentices by actively recruiting across a range of business areas.”

Council apprenticeship opportunities are as follows:

Apprentice Community Safety
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Intelligence and Support Department within Community Safety whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to undertake data maintenance activities and administrative duties for the Community Safety department.

Apprentice Business Support Officer Children’s Services
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in Children’s Services whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn aspects of the Business Support Officer role and activities with appropriate support including a range of clerical and administrative duties.

Apprentice Communications Support
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in Communications and Marketing whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. In this post you will learn about the services provided by the Communications unit and to help it provide effective and efficient marketing and public relations services for Torbay Council.

Apprentice Customer Service Advisor
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Council’s customer service enquiry whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to provide an efficient front line customer enquiry service.

Apprentice Finance Assistant
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in Finance whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to undertake general finance and administrative duties for the Financial Services Team including using the Council’s Financial Information and Management System (FIMS) as well as a full range of clerical and administration support to the team.

Apprentice GEO Park Assistant
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in developing the English Riviera Geopark across Torbay whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn a range of activities under the guidance of the Geopark Co-ordinator including assisting with the development of activities forming part of the Geopark Festival and Conference in 2016.

Apprentice HR Assistant
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in Human Resources whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to provide efficient and effective business administration support to the Human Resources department ensuring service users are provided with key information on HR and Payroll processes and procedures.

Apprentice Payroll Assistant
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Payroll team whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to provide efficient and effective business support to the Payroll team through a wide variety of administrative duties ensuring service users are provided with information on Payroll processes and procedures.

Apprentice Resort & Parking Services
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in the Resort and Parking Services Team whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to provide clerical support to staff engaged in the management of Torbay Council’s Resort & Parking Services team.

Apprentice Service Support Technician
An exciting opportunity to gain experience in Spatial Planning whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to provide efficient and effective business administration support to the Spatial Planning department. Duties include learning how planning applications are processed, learning how web pages are created and maintained, learning how to research and obtain information for projects.

Apprentice Web Assistant
An exciting opportunity to gain experience maintaining the Torbay Council website whilst gaining a nationally recognised qualification. You will learn how to update, maintain the Torbay Council website, intranet and other Council maintained websites. Including how to develop on line forms, using the systems and tools and how to update and create web content.
