Local Plan Proposed Modifications October 2003

Following the Local Plan Inquiry in 2001/02 to consider unresolved objections to the Deposit and Revised Deposit Versions of the Torbay Local Plan (1995-2011), the Inspector's Report of Inquiry was published on 9th April 2003. The Council subsequently agreed a set of Proposed Modifications to the Local Plan based on the Inspector's recommendations. This document was published for public consultation from 6th October to 14th November 2003.

Consideration of consultation on Proposed Modifications

All relevant comments on the Proposed Modifications that have been received within the consultation period have been analysed by officers. In summary, representations from 100 different persons or organisations were received, giving rise to around 196 separate representations. 58 of these were objections, 111 were supporting comments and 26 were general observations. A report was prepared for the Torbay Local Plan Working Party on Monday 2nd February 2004. From this, a recommendation was made to the Overview and Scrutiny Board on 18th February 2004 and to the Council on 4th March 2004.
The Council resolved to publish a Notice of Intention to adopt the Local Plan without proposing further modifications at its meeting on 4th March 2004. An accompanying Statement of reasons and decisions relating to objections to Proposed Modifications was issued. The Plan came into operation on its adoption.
