Bookstart offers the gift of free books to all children at two key ages before they start school, to inspire a love of reading that will give children a flying start in life. We co-ordinate the national Bookstart programme in Torbay.

Gifted by Health Visitors and Health Professionals in Torbay when children are aged between 30 and 36 months. Portage, Audiology and some other support services also gift Bookstart packs. Should you experience any difficulty accessing your free pack, please contact us.

Star packs are available for children with conditions affecting their fine motor skills. Children are entitled to this pack in addition to the two standard Bookstart packs.

If you speak English as a second language then you are entitled to free dual language books. Please ask at your local library for more information.
