Neighbourhood Planning Forum & Area Applications

Applications were received in June 2012 from three groups (who were acting as interim Neighbourhood Forums at the time) to be designated formally as such to produce Neighbourhood Plans for Brixham, Paignton and Torquay respectively (three separate Neighbourhood Areas). A public consultation on the Forum and Area applications took place between 26 July and 7 September 2012. On 6 December 2012 the three Neighbourhood Areas were designated and the applications from groups in Brixham, Paignton and Torquay were approved to be designated Neighbourhood Forums. Each Neighbourhood Forum will produce a Neighbourhood Plan for their Neighbourhood Area which, together with the Local Plan, will form the basis for determining planning applications.
Torbay Council as Local Planning Authority received individual applications for Neighbourhood Area and Neighbourhood Forum status in Torquay, Paignton and Brixham under the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012. The three areas are based on existing Community Partnership areas in each town as follows:

Torquay

Paignton

Brixham

The applications can be viewed in the Related Documents and they show the area in which it is intended to use the new neighbourhood planning powers arising from the Localism Act and the supporting Neighbourhood Planning Regulations including the preparation of a Neighbourhood Development Plan.
Please note that now the applications have been approved andNeighbourhood Forum designations have been made, no other organisation or body may be designated for that Neighbourhood Area until that designation expires or is withdrawn.
