War Memorials - Useful Links

The Commission’s duties are to mark and maintain the graves of the members of the forces of the Commonwealth who were killed in the two World Wars, to build memorials to those who have no known grave and to keep records and registers, including, after the Second World War, a record of the Civilian War Dead.
Friends of War Memorials is the only organisation of its type solely devoted to the care of war memorials of all dates and types countrywide.
The UK National Inventory of War Memorials is an information-gathering project. It aims to create a database of information of all known war memorials in the UK, estimated at between 50,000 to 60,000.

This website is dedicated to the memory of over 300 staff from the DTI’s predecessor departments who were killed in action or died in war. By recording their names, together with personal details and photographs, they aim to keep alive the memory of the sacrifice.
