I have found a tenant for my property but they cannot afford to pay a deposit-where can they go for help?
You should firstly advise your tenant to check whether they can borrow the deposit from friends or family.
If they are not working and have been in receipt of certain benefits for a period of at least six months, they can apply to Jobcentre Plus to see if they can help them through the Social Fund. There is no guarantee they will be able to help and each case is looked at on its own merits.

Torbay Council has now introduced a new scheme in partnership with Torbay Pound to help vulnerable people with a deposit so they can access private rented accommodation. We are working with landlords and letting agents in Torbay who have been accredited through the Torbay Landlords’ Accreditation Scheme to help people move into good quality rented accommodation.
