Latest News on Encampments in the Bay

There are currently three unauthorised encampments on council land in Torbay.

Broadsands

18 May 2012- The site has now been vacated.

Churston Green

21 May 2012 - This site has now been vacated.
18 May 2012 - An application for a possession order will be heard at the County Court on 22 May 2012.
16 May 2012 - There are two encampments on land at Churston Ferrers, where there are about 14 caravans and associated vehicles.

Action

Council officers have visited all the sites to advise the occupants of their status, and education and welfare checks are being carried out. Torbay Council will be applying to the County Court for a possession order. The hearing is due to take place next week. If granted, the enforcement of the order will be passed to the Court appointed bailiffs.
