Following a restructure in January 2010 The Torbay Safeguarding Children Board reduced its subgroups from seven to three. The following subgroups are responsible for delivering the TSCB Business Plan.
Purpose of the Subgroups
Quality Assurance Subgroup
The Quality Assurance Subgroup is responsible for quality assuring the child protection work being undertaken by the agencies of the TSCB. Reporting to the Delivery Board of the TSCB, the Quality Assurance Subgroup is also tasked with advising the TSCB on any required action arising from audits and serious case reviews in order to improve safeguarding responses across the system.
Serious Case Review Subgroup
To consider whether to hold a Serious Case Review (SCR) on the death of a child where abuse or neglect are factors, or where there are serious concerns regarding inter-agency working where a child suffers potentially life threatening concerns, serious impairment of health or development, or particularly serious sexual abuse.
Training, Learning and Development Subgroup
The Training, Learning and Development Subgroup is responsible for determining and developing the training programme for TSCB based on:
- the needs of the workforce
- local and national directives
- learning from Serious Case Reviews
- directives from TSCB etc.
The Training, Learning and Development Subgroup will also be responsible for quality assuring training programmes.
The Training, Learning and Development Subgroup is also tasked with monitoring of agency attendance at training and reporting to the Delivery Board of the TSCB.
