2012/13 Council Tax Spending Plans

The amounts to be raised by Council Tax for Torbay Council, Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Authority and Devon & Cornwall Police Authority are applicable to all Torbay residents, the Parish Precept is only applicable to residents in the Brixham Town Council area. If applicable this will be detailed on your Council Tax demand.

Brixham Town Council

Brixham Town Council was established in May 2007. The Parish Council precepts Torbay Council as a billing authority to fund its activities. This precept is received from the Council Tax payers in the area covered by Brixham Parish Council, which are based on the wards of Berry Head with Furzeham and St Marys with Summercombe.
The table below shows the 2012/2013 Total Budgeted Expenditure. This is an increase of £6,624 on the 2011/2012 budget of £186,500.

Devon & Cornwall Police Authority

The part of the council tax that covers police services will increase by 2% in 2012/13. As there was no rise in 2011/12, this increase means that, for a Band D property, the police element of the annual council tax bill will increase by ?3.13 from £156.60 in 2010/11 to £159.73 in 2012/13. As most properties in Torbay are Band C or below the majority of taxpayers will pay no more than £3 extra for policing in 2012/13.

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Authority

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Authority is responsible for the governance arrangements for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service, including the responsibility for setting its revenue and capital budgets in order to meet local and national priorities.
