Save Swim Torquay

Swim Torquay opens in a new window Community Pool serves the local area of Plainmoor, providing services to children, seniors, stroke/disabled people, 2 swimming clubs and 20+ schools in addition to the general public, in a less affluent area of Torquay.
Swim Torquay was formed in 1977 by community action resulting from the then local council's action in closing the only public pool in the town. It is run by a committee of elected community members and is self funding. It is a valued community centre, responding to the needs of the community; providing healthy activities for all ages.
Due to rising utility costs over the past 3 years, the pool has faced financial problems. Community support with fundraising has avoided closure to date, but renewal of equipment - pool filter, boilers and other equipment means that further funds now have to be raised by grants and donations.
