Building Materials Licence

If you wish to place building materials on any part of the highway a licence is required from this Authority. A licence is not normally necessary if materials are placed on private land. All materials must be placed on private land whenever possible.

Licence Applications

To apply for a permit, you can complete the application form and post back to us with your payment and copy of your Public Liability Insurance (The minimum level of such insurance shall be £5,000,000 but it shall remain the responsibility of the applicant having taken any necessary professional advise to determine the appropriate level of cover).

Licence Duration

The initial period of your licence is 4 weeks from the date of issue, however an extention is possible for up to 12 weeks

Complaint Regarding Location/Dangerous Scaffolding

Any complaints about the location or safety of materials on the public highway should be reported instantly using the contact details below and one of our inspectors will go to the site to assess the safety and this will be dealt with accordingly.

Fees

The cost will vary subject to notice given and if a site visit is required. The charges are revised each year and will be posted on this website.

  • £34.20 - Over 3 days notice given
  • £68.44 - 3 days or less notice given
  • £34.20 - Extension to License
  • £68.44 - Site visit required
