Prioritisation

Clients presenting with an alcohol problem are not prioritised.

Key Worker

Upon entering treatment, a client is allocated a key worker.  This will be his/her personal drug or alcohol worker.  Meetings will take place on a regular basis.  The key worker will

  • oversee treatment
  • try and help the client to understand his/her problems and help to see how they can be addressed
  • support the client in setting and achieving treatment goals
  • advise of other sources of help that may be available.

Venue

Most people are seen at Shrublands House.  Under special circumstances, home visits may be arranged but it is usual for people to be seen at health service premises in their locality if Shrublands House is not the venue.

Emergencies

Shrublands does not provide an emergency service.  Emergencies are best dealt with by a GP, the Out of Hours GP Service or the Accident and Emergency Department.
