Creative Torbay

Creative Torbay aims to strategically develop and connect the creative sector by developing a brand and a website that promotes Torbay’s rich creativity, creative industries, artistic activity and culture.
It provides a valuable source of information and opportunities; a platform for exhibition (on and offline) and an opportunity to further networks and collaborations within the sector. The working partnership driving this forward is called the Torbay Creative.
The creative sector in Torbay has potential to thrive but in order to unite the sector together and develop a long term strategy to develop; there needs to be a level of infrastructure development that can start this process, by offering a gateway for sector intelligence and information. A platform for other sectors to engage and also an opportunity to raise the artistic quality for the sector

How will we achieve our aims?

Some of the projects the team is developing include:
  • Torbay Creative Space Agency - An innovative service that links owners of vacant property with creative professionals looking for potential spaces in the Bay in which to work, exhibit, perform or rehearse.
  • Torbay Creative Forum - The online forum will mirror the physical forum and be a meeting place for creatives to debate, meet and share experiences and good practice.
  • Torbay Creative Directory - This is an online listings of artists, contacts, suppliers and creative industries in the Bay. Those listed will be contactable through the site, be able to display images and narrative. The directory will be a key tool for businesses in the Bay and statuary bodies who wish to source local talent for projects.
  • Torbay Creative Academy - This will provide a platform for apprenticeships, training and work placements by links to and descriptions of training available to Creatives in the Bay. It will allow partner organisations, in particular schools, colleges, connextions teams and youth offending teams to offer students placements.
