Winter Work 2006

Furzeham Middle Green, Brixham

During 2006 landscaping work was carried out over the year at Furzeham Middle Green, Brixham.

The scheme and proposed plans were shown at a public consultation which was carried out by the Friends of Furzeham Green and Council Officers.

From this consultation a number of issues were raised with regards to improving the disused "pitch and putt" course.

The work included weed spraying off the green, flattening, levelling and re-seeding the old course and removing the chain link fencing which ran adjacent to one of the main paths through the middle of the green.

Additional planting has been added to the existing planting beds and a gap created in the Griselinia hedge, through which access can be gained to the formal annual bedding area.

If you would like further information regarding the Friends please call 01803 207992.

Winter Work 2005

Kings Drive Gardens, Torquay

In 2005 major work was undertaken to improve the Kings Drive Gardens, located along Torquay Seafront.

The area was previously surrounded by vegetation which had become too large for the setting and needed to be re-planted to encourage park users back into the popular garden area.

The plants and trees which could be retained were saved and included in the new scheme, those plants which were not required and could be transplanted were given a "new home" in other parks throughout the Bay.

The new planting includes both herbaceous plants and evergreen shrubs.

The lighting was improved and updated, a fountain installed, footpath repairs carried out, the bridges were re-painted and the pond cleaned out.

Winter Work 2004

In 2004 we undertook a number of projects in the parks and gardens of Torbay.

The work included landscaping Memorial Gardens, Sherwell Park, Youngs Park and Victoria Park to name a few. The projects have all been completed and the results have been well received.

If you would like further information regarding the soft landscaping schemes in parks please call the Parks Development Officer on 01803 207992.
